The Saudi Society of Blood & Marrow Transplantation (SS BMT
The Saudi Society of Blood & Marrow Transplantation (SS BMT) was established as a non-profit scientific organization to serve physicians and healthcare workers working in the field of Hematology and stem cell transplantation through disseminating science, enhancing research and optimizing overall patient care.
Since its establishment in 2008, the society has held more than 30 regional conferences and courses and established collaboration with international societies and companies with the aim to bring update to the region and to enhance networking among the society members.
An outreach program was established to reach out to peripheral hospitals to facilitate education and consultations through expert consultants for patients with hematological disorders and stem cell transplant.
Recently, the society completed the setup of the Saudi Blood Marrow Transplantation Registry (SBMTR) which has been approved by the IRB and will be accessible online throughout the kingdom of Saudi Arabia. In addition, the society has been working to create culture for research through its subcommittee, the Saudi Hematology Research Group.
In additional, the society has worked hand in hand with the Saudi Stem Cells Donor Registry (SSCDR) promoting the registry in the public and encouraging donor registration through promotional and educational campaigns.
